New MBA Executive Director Announcement
The Midtown Business Association Board, which represents a broad range of large and small business owners, public agencies, property interests, and Midtown entrepreneurs, is pleased to announce that the new MBA Executive Director has been chosen.
After a nationwide outreach and screening process, two days of intensive interviews with several outstanding candidates, and a lively discussion amongst the search committee, Mr. Rob Kerth was determined to be the winning candidate.
Rob is a former City Councilmember from District 2, as well as the former Executive Project Leader of the nonprofit Sacramento Tree Foundation. Rob and his family have lived in and owned businesses in Sacramento for generations. He has extensive experience in redevelopment and neighborhood revitalization, as well as an impressive history of fundraising and political advocacy.
In addition to serving on numerous public agencies’ governing bodies during his tenure with the Sacramento City Council (SACOG, SAFCA, Regional Transit, etc), Mr. Kerth has also served as President of the North Sacramento Chamber of Commerce and on the Board of the Friends of Light Rail and Transit. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. He's also a friendly, eclectic person who should fit in well with the Midtown vibe!
Rob will be the first permanent, full-time professional Executive Director to manage the MBA’s activities and programs. His mission will be to advocate for Midtown interests, economic and cultural well-being; his duties will include management and oversight of the area’s newly-formed Property-based Business Improvement District (PBID), with an annual budget of $575,000 raised through property assessments to support the MBA’s activities in the areas of Clean and Safe programs, Marketing/Advocacy, Parking, and other priority projects.
Rob will be formally introduced as the new ED at our next MBA Board meeting, Wednesday July 16, 5:30 PM at the Regional Transit Board Room, 1400 29th Street in Sacramento. “I am thrilled to join the Midtown Business Association and to become part of the team of residents, artists, and business owners that have created such a special place,” says Mr. Kerth. “I’m excited to do my part to make it even better.” “We are delighted to have a person of Rob’s political acumen and downtown redevelopment experience as our first full-time Executive Director,” responds Aaron Zeff, President of the MBA Board of Directors. “His leadership skills and practical talents will be a wonderful addition to the eclectic Midtown mix. “We are grateful to our executive search team, including committee chair Sotiris Kolokotronis, consultants Diane Miller from Wilcox Miller & Nelson and Sheri Graciano of the Sacramento Visitors and Convention Bureau and our interim MBA Executive Director, Connie Miottel, for choosing such an outstanding individual from a very talented pool of candidates,” adds Zeff.

Second Saturday-- Important Tips to Make it Safe and Successful!
Second Saturdays in Midtown are a time to treat the public to a fun time while familiarizing them with your place of business. Art, food and drink samples, and music are all around the area, and this is a great draw to people to come out and partake in all the excitement Midtown has to offer.
In order to keep Second Saturdays a successful monthly event for the community, we need to work together to keep everyone safe. The City of Sacramento has begun taking proactive regulatory action in order to prevent any events that may result in the shut-down of Second Saturdays in the future.
We will have a PDF of the City's official permit info for sound, sales, and alcohol up shortly as a link in this article. If you would like a PDF of the permit info emailed to you, please contact our office: mba@mbasac.com or 916-442-1500.
Thank you for your continued cooperation in making Second Saturdays safe and successful for everyone!
